Using Errant Epiphanies
I usually post new exercises anywhere from daily to weekly. Here are a few guidelines to keep in mind:
- Sharing results: Please feel free to post links to your exercise results in the comments sections; I ask that you not put the results themselves in unless they’re only a couple of paragraphs long. Only share if your results are suitable for a teens-and-older audience; no adults-only material, please. (I have no objection to it, but want to keep the blog safe for teens to browse.) PG-13 is fine; R should come with a warning; don’t link to anything X-rated.
- Judgment: I’m not going to critique or judge your piece. The point of an exercise is to loosen up, let go, and allow the inspiration to come without judgment; critique undercuts that purpose. Critique has its place, but a random inspirational exercise isn’t it! I also ask that you not use the comments areas to judge others’ work.
- Comments: No flames, no commercial spam, etc. Feel free to share links to other sites with writers’ exercises, offer your own suggested variations on the presented exercises, discuss the utility of writers’ exercises in general, chat about writing, and so on, but keep it friendly and constructive please. Comment moderation will be exercised if needed.
