There's great confusion in the writing world over the difference between POD technology and subsidy presses. Most large trade publishers and academic presses use print-on demand-for a portion of their list, and readers aren't even aware of it. The main print on demand printer in the country is Lightning Source, a sister company of Ingram, the largest book distributor in the world.
