Leah: On the other hand, I think Crichton makes the point that it could have done a lot more damage than it did just by using his 'analysis of a crisis' format and his narrator's assumption that it was necessary to figure out what went wrong because the next time, they might not get lucky. And I liked the fact that this one ended so differently from most of the other similar novels out there. Besides, it meshed well with some of the statistics Crichton quoted early on regarding the percentages of bacteria that are harmful vs. those that aren't. I thought it was a reasonable---and interesting---ending.

Long time no see! What has it been... 7 years or so? How have you & Tony been??

I never liked Andromeda Strain, because it never really resolved. When the virus mutates, in my opinion, it could do far more damage to our way of life than just killing people. In fact, thinking about the damage that the virus could do made me realize just how pervasive that material is in our current society. (I'm trying to not give away too much of the ending while still making my point)

Stephanie: Yeah, that was him! After reading 'Prey' it just took quite a while before I wanted to try his stuff again.

Nithin: I can enjoy either the soft approach or the hard, as long as it's done well, and I did enjoy this one. I hope you do too!

I think I'm going to like this one. I don't really mind the "hard-science approach". And I really like the two science fiction books by Crichton that I've read - Jurassic Park, and Timeline.

Jeez, I haven't read a Michael Crichton book in a while. I think the last one was Jurassic Park (that was him, right)?
