bellezza: I didn’t start reading her books until recently because I was utterly uninterested in them. For one thing I (sadly) bought into the misconception that romance novels aren’t good, for a long time. (Now I know what should have been obvious all along: that they’re like any other book, dependent on the skill & talent of the author and the taste of the publisher, which means that some are good and some aren’t.) For another I’ve tended to think that anyone who publishes on such a rapid and regular basis must be simply churning out books without much thought. But honestly, having read a goodly handful of her books, it seems to me that she’s putting out so many of them simply because she has lots of ideas and works very quickly. Sure, there are some formulas involved in some of them, but I think that’s more about meeting the expectations of her audience than it is about a lack of creativity. After all, if you look at the various things she’s done/is doing, she’s trying out new formulas all the time.
