I picked this one up without realizing it was the second in a trilogy; and I have to say it stands alone nicely. Of course, now I have to go get Blood Brothers and get the backstory of Quinn and Cal and wait until December to see how Gage and Cybil work out... But just as expected, Ms. Roberts delivers on all levels. I am addicted to the J.D. Robb series and have tons (I mean tons) of NR's works around my house (my favorite trilogy so far is the Born In Series, but I digress.) Just wanted to say, "YAY" to another wonderful NR book!

darla: I really am enjoying this series---enough to get completely hooked on it of my own volition even when I know I can't find out what happens for months yet (which is normally something I hate). Although I have to admit, it helps when it's Nora Roberts, because you know she's reliable enough that the next book won't take years to come out. ;)

bellezza: I didn't start reading her books until recently because I was utterly uninterested in them. For one thing I (sadly) bought into the misconception that romance novels aren't good, for a long time. (Now I know what should have been obvious all along: that they're like any other book, dependent on the skill & talent of the author and the taste of the publisher, which means that some are good and some aren't.) For another I've tended to think that anyone who publishes on such a rapid and regular basis must be simply churning out books without much thought. But honestly, having read a goodly handful of her books, it seems to me that she's putting out so many of them simply because she has lots of ideas and works very quickly. Sure, there are some formulas involved in some of them, but I think that's more about meeting the expectations of her audience than it is about a lack of creativity. After all, if you look at the various things she's done/is doing, she's trying out new formulas all the time.

A friend at school adores Nora Roberts, but I haven't read enough of her to say the same. I've seen this for sale in lots of places, though, so I may need to pick it up.

This series looks like fun - I've enjoyed the JD Robb series, but I haven't read many of Roberts' other books. This sounds like one to try. Thanks for the review!

J. Kaye: Lol, while I do my best to avoid spoilers, I definitely understand---it's a fine line to ride, and it's hard to avoid 'em all! I look forward to hearing your take on this one!
