Yeah, Gleason's trilogy is another series I've heard of, and thought sounded kind of fun but not mind-blowingly stunning, rather in the same way (although I haven't read them yet). It's not something I'd have thought I was terribly interested in, and yet, it's fun to suspend one's belief especially if you're caught up in a few mysteries.
