It’s a combination of things, as far as making money off of reviews. Partially through the usual web site things at my reviews blog: adsense and amazon. No, it isn’t much, but it is something. Partially also from Epinions.com: I was one of their early reviewers a handful of years ago, so I have a ton of reviews up there, and the incremental bits of ‘income share’ add up to a small check each month. If I started there now it probably wouldn’t be worth it, but as a place where I can drop copies of my reviews and make a few dollars, I’ll take it. I’d try reviewing for actual magazines (I did it once or twice a long time ago) but deadlines are too much stress. This way makes less money, but I can do it my way on my time. Then there’s the fact that getting review copies of books cuts way down on the book spending I’d probably do otherwise!
