What friends are really for…

Setting up blogs apparently.   I finally decided I wanted to go off and start a Blog of my own, get a little writing practice, put a few meandering thoughts into print.  So I went online and found a free (not-to-be-named) host and spent a few hours using their free software.   I was happy enough with my pitiful attempt at setting up a Blog…until I told my friend the Rocket Scientist.

Now some people, when you say, “I set up a blog last night!” will say, “a what?”  Others will look you in the eye and say, “where on earth will you find the time for that?”  But my friend the Rocket Scientist (no really, he is) and his lovely wife decided that I needed a “Better Blog” using “Better Software.”  So, voila!  He spent much of his afternoon, building me a Blog site (this one in case you haven’t figured it out), so that I could put my thoughts into writing.  Now I suppose, I better get to it, and make myself worthy of his time and effort.  More misadventures Your Grace!!

Oh by the way, quick note in case anyone gets confused and asks why their comment doesn’t show up when they post it… for anti-spam reasons the first comment anyone leaves has to be approved by an admin; after that they can post normally. Don’t worry about it Jervis—Jeff & I are taking care of the admin part. There are a lot of bots that leave anonymous “great post!” comments with links back to pharmacy sites and the like and we figured you wouldn’t want to have to deal with figuring all that out.

I use Word press as well. Have your admin install the Spam Karma plug in and you will NEVER get comment spam.

I will have to see if I have it at any of my domains. Blogging could be useful as much as I am on the road. I have one at work, but it is internal only. Of course, it could also be YATS[1] of which I need no more.

YATS. This looks like the beginning of a list of acronyms we haven’t thought of yet. I will open a new thread and seek your input. :-)

We use Akismet if I recall to filter spam; it does a great job, but there are always some things any filter can’t catch. I’ve never used one that was 100%.

    While Spam Karma 2 isn’t 100% it’s damn close.
