Berry Bread Machine Bread

NOTE: This bread machine recipe is appropriate for a two pound loaf. Not all bread machines can handle loaves this large; make sure yours can.

  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice
  • 4 1/4 cups white flour
  • 4 Tablespoons sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons dried milk or dried buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 Tablespoons butter (melted or cut into small pieces)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast (or 3 teaspoons rapid rise yeast on the quick cycle)
  • 1/2 cup dried blueberries*
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries*

Add the ingredients to the bread machine in the order suggested by the manufacturer (usually this means liquid followed by dry followed by yeast, with the berries added at the “add things” beep).

If you don’t know where to find dried blueberries and cherries, you can get them where we get ours: from King Arthur Flour’s online catalog. (Added later: now that we’ve moved we usually get them at our local Trader Joe’s instead.)
