Make a list of the characters from one of your pieces of fiction. Next to each, write a brief phrase summing up their attitude toward getting work done or their method for approaching their work.
In some societies, your occupation isn’t considered all that important to who you are. In others, one of the first questions someone will ask you is, “what do you do?” I.e., what job do you hold? This is seen as a defining characteristic of your life. How deeply are your characters defined not by their jobs in this case, but by their approaches to work in general? Be as serious or as funny as you like.
