“I was writing”

WWdN: In Exile: Real Love / It’s Only Life

This post by Wil Wheaton is a gorgeous and hilarious look into what it’s like when you’re trying like hell to write and having the damndest time actually making it work. I think any writers who read it will find themselves nodding vigorously, and others will probably either narrow their foreheads in confusion or perhaps understand a little more of what it’s really like to be “a writer”.

But that isn’t why you should read it. You should read it because it’s just a wonderful, rambling, beautiful mess (and I mean that in a positive way, the way a free-write is a mess but is something precious at the same time) with laugh-out-loud funny parts, and poignant parts, and an ending that’s entirely too perfect. I found myself identifying with so many little observations and understandings in there. Whatever else Wil has done with his life, he’s truly discovered a talent for writing.
