I’ve started receiving the rounds of holiday cookbooks (or ‘conceivably related to holidays’ cookbooks) for review, so before too long I’ll start posting my reviews as we get food made and recipes tested. (As if I didn’t have enough to do. Who am I kidding, I love this!)
I’m making my way nicely through that second book on self-publishing, so I should be able to review both of those books soon. Since it’ll take a few weeks to start reviewing all those cookbooks (in time to make nice Christmas gifts, but not in time for planning Thanksgiving dinner), here are links to my reviews of some of the treasured cookbooks I usually pull out to help me plan feasts:
- Diane Morgan’s The Thanksgiving Table
- Rick Rodgers’ Thanksgiving 101
- Shiela Lukins’ Celebrate!
- Rick Rodgers’ 50 Best Stuffings and Dressings
- Hershey’s Best-Loved Recipes
- Bruce Weinstein’s Ultimate Ice Cream Book
- Peggy Cullen’s Caramel
Just like last year I plan to put out a “what to buy your favorite cook for the holidays” list around early to mid-December!
Hi Heather,
I read with interest your comments on holiday cooking & cookbooks. I love the diversity of your site.
I have published a cookbook, Grandmother’s Cookbook which makes the perfect holiday gift for any cookbook lover! My grandmother, Elizabeth Rose von Hohen, and I worked together to preserve all of the recipes she had accumulated over the years. Many were not written down. What we ended up with was a treasure, not only for our family, but for many other families to enjoy and shared. Our book is a slice of “living life the old fashioned way” with comfort food recipes, memories, wildflower watercolors and feelings from the heart.
We recently launched our website: http://www.grandmotherscookbook.com. Please visit it if you have a chance to learn more about our book. As a food lover I think you will enjoy the site and our cookbook. I would be happy to send you a copy for review. With your permission, I would love to link our website to yours perhaps through this forum. My grandmother has many interesting stories I could write about.
I look forward to hearing from you soon,
Carrie J Gamble
