8:50 am: Okay, so I’m not dividing exactly on the hour, because the hour will hit while I’m in the middle of a review. That’s okay. On to reviewing.
9:15 am: Another review down: Betty Rosbottom’s The Big Book of Backyard Cooking. Now that I’m caught up on my reviewing, time to dive into the reading! I’m going to grab a book at random from my stack of review books, and it looks like we’re in for Fiona Patton’s The Golden Tower today. The tough part is that this is book two of a series and I haven’t read book one—this is one of the pitfalls of being a book reviewer.
9:45 am: Whew! I made the right choice. This is an awesome book so far and I’m already quite hooked. I just dropped back by Dewey’s blog and found this suggested meme to get us all introduced to one another so here you go:
Where are you reading from today? A couch in my living room. The sun is streaming in the bay window; the cats are looking outside; and my husband is in a chair nearby working on a project of his own.
3 facts about me …
Uh… um… er… This’ll be lame, ’cause I have no idea what to answer. I’m only five feet tall, which always seems to shock people, particularly because my husband is 6’4″. I have the attention span of a flea on crack, probably because I have ADD & bipolar. I also have a memory that’s like Swiss cheese, only without the cheese (all holes).
How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours? I haven’t picked out a specific number to read during the ‘thon. I’m just going to read random good-looking books from my overall TBR pile until I run out of time or energy.
Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)? Not a one! I actually do better without goals; I’m weird that way. The more I try to plan out what I want to do, the less I’m likely to get it done.
If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, Any advice for people doing this for the first time? I’ve done this once before, but have missed at least one since then. Just make sure you take little breaks, and do the ‘thon in whatever way is most fun for you rather than holding to some pre-conceived notion of what you “should” do.
