Pros: Versatile and delicious! Cons: None Rating: 5 out of 5 Review book (published 2009) courtesy of Chronicle Books. I just looove breakfast foods. They’re so versatile and delicious, and they certainly don’t have to be restricted to breakfast-time!…
We haven’t adored everything in this cookbook. Some of the whole grain recipes are a little much for us, and some things are just kind of there as far as quality goes. But the stuff that’s good–and that’s the majority of it–is very good. And there are so many recipes here that I predict this book will become a real treasure for anyone who enjoys breakfast foods, even if you don’t love every recipe.
So whether you eat pancakes for breakfast, dinner, dessert or, heck – why not lunch? – you’ll get more than you bargained for with this cookbook.
I’m normally not a huge muffin fan. Every now and then I find myself drawn to those huge sugary cinnamon or chocolate chippy things you’ll find in the store, but that’s about it. I’m not sure why it is that muffins don’t particularly appeal to me, but they don’t.
This cookbook changed my mind.
Normally, my fiancee and I love the Le Cordon Bleu Home Collection cookbooks. Most of them are absolutely outstanding, particularly in comparison to other cookbooks. Not so with the Muffins cookbook, unfortunately.
After playing with these recipes, I totally trust Ms. Fisher to show us the way to many, varied, and yummy muffins.
I find the cutesy layout annoying. Maybe you won’t. Regardless, the muffins are worth it; they’re yummy, delicious, and every other adjective I can think of. Just be ready to be confused by weird muffin batters with no explanation.
My only complaint about this book is that ours is starting to fall apart a bit, and I don’t think we’ve really abused it enough for that.
The waffles made by this waffle-maker aren’t large, so it takes a little while to bake a raft of waffles for the family. But it’s perfect for small recipes meant for just a couple of people.
